BIA and EVIC are working on new curricula for electrical mobility

On August 15, 2017 representatives of the National Branch Organization for Electric Mobility - EVIC and a team from the Bulgarian Industrial Association met with the experts from the professional field "Transport" of the National Agency for Vocational Education and Training (NAVET).

The proposal for updating the List of Occupations for Vocational Education and Training (VET) was discussed by BIA and EVIC. The subjects were: "Electric Vehicle Technician (ELV)" and "Electric Vehicle Fitters (EVS)" with the following specialties: Energy Sources and Chargers for EPS, EMC Control and Control Systems, Electromechanical and Drive systems.

Issues related to new electric vehicles are becoming more and more important. In the next 15 years, electric vehicles will reach a market share of 3% in the automotive sector worldwide. Their prices will fall slowly, but in the long run there is no alternative to electric propulsion systems, which means that electric cars are of the utmost importance to the automotive industry and its survival. The rapid entry of electric vehicles into the market is also due to the fact that they are part of a new "green attitude" to nature and are supported by all major states that take decisive steps to introduce the electric car (and more generally "electric mobility ").

The European Commission has developed a special program at this very research-intensive phase - a European green cars initiative - to prepare the industry for its transition to the low-carbon economy. The electromobility industry is at the heart of the so-called "Green industry", which covers a large part of the machine-building and power generation industry, which includes mainly RES (renewable energy sources), textile and leather industry, cable and network, information and telecommunications (ICT), security, bank, card and leasing Activity, infrastructure and innovation. On the other hand, important factors for the decisive "new start" of the electromobility industry are: rising fuel costs and their scarce resource, as well as environmental damage Environment.

Bulgaria can not stay away from the global trends in the green economy, from the European trends in energy consumption, given that the country has accumulated experience and skills for the development of the electromobility industry. Various initiatives, companies, individual inventors (we have registered at least 8 demonstrations and development of our own concept of electric vehicle production in the country) are trying to create a public attitude, business model and / or attention to the new industry.

A key moment in the transition to the new electromobility is the training of cadres for it. Several Bulgarian universities are preparing bachelor and master programs related to electric vehicles. At the same time, there is a need for the training of specialists with secondary education who can service new electric vehicles, working in a team under the guidance of highly qualified specialists and engineers. The curriculum content of the specialties for the professions "Technician and Installer of Electric Vehicles" provides the general, sectoral and specific vocational training necessary for the successful pursuit of the specialties.

On the basis of the developed partnership and professional relations of BIA and EVIC with VTC, with the vocational high schools of transport, electrical engineering and electronics, and with the technical universities in Bulgaria, the new professions and specialties in the Bulgarian labor market can be successfully implemented by transforming Positive practices in a number of European countries where the electromotive industry is on the rise.
During the meeting the parties agreed on the following questions:

The experts of BIA and EVIC will take part in the development of the curricula for the specialty "Electric Vehicles", on which the vocational training of the first students in this specialty in vocational high schools will begin. The content of the proposed three majors will be included in the new curricula.
Experts of BIA and EVIC to develop and further develop their proposal with a new level of professional qualification (SPC) in order to create a new profession with a fourth SPC or to complement the profession "Technician of transport equipment" with a new specialty with the 4th SPC, Which will create new opportunities for professional realization of the employees in the field of electric mobility.
On the part of BIA, a working group was created to develop a state-of-the-art education standard for qualification in the specialty "Electric Vehicles".

The proposal for new specialties at NAVET will be submitted by August 25, 2017, and in September the proposal for a new state educational standard for the qualification in the specialty "Electric vehicles" will be prepared.
